Tips for Graduating Seniors
Here's What Seniors Need to Take Care of Before the End of the School Year Senior year is almost over, and now that the chaos of the college admissions process has passed, students have time to enjoy their last few weeks of high school. Saying goodbye to high school and anticipating the first year of college can leave students with a mix of emotions. The excitement of a new chapter in life can be coupled with sadness that another chapter is coming to a close. Through final exams, graduation parties, commencement traditions, and senior activities, these last few weeks of high school can be a whirlwind of fun and excitement that is over before you know it. Here are a few things that graduating high school seniors should be sure to take care of before the end of the school year and through the summer. Say ââ¬Å"thank you.â⬠There are a lot of people who spent a considerable amount of time and effort to help you get where you are today. While graduation is a celebration of your accomplishment, donââ¬â¢t forget to thank those who helped you along the way. Take time to say ââ¬Å"thank youâ⬠to your teachers, counselors, administrators, and especially your parents. Whether you write a note or just stop them to say a few words, make sure you know you appreciate all they have done. Make sure to send your final transcript to your college. In the excitement of admissions decisions, prom, graduation, and other end-of-the-school-year festivities, it can be easy to forget to tie up some loose ends. Donââ¬â¢t forget to arrange to have your final transcript sent to the college you will be attending this fall. While youââ¬â¢re ââ¬Å"in,â⬠the college will still want to see your final grades, and neglecting to do so could jeopardize your place in the freshman class. Start planning for next semester. August may seem far off right now, but the fall semester can sneak up on you if youââ¬â¢re not careful! Start registering for the necessary freshmen orientation activities your college offers so that you can have a better idea of your schedule this summer and what you need to do in advance. If possible, start looking for roommates, interacting with classmates, and getting your freshmen year essentials together. While preparing for your first year of college can be a little overwhelming, it should be an exciting time, so have fun! Enjoy time with friends and family. After all, it is your last year of high school! Enjoy your last few weeks of school and spend time with your friends and family. While itââ¬â¢s easy to stay in touch with social media and technology, nothing beats spending some quality time with your parents and best friends, especially if youââ¬â¢ll see less of each other come fall. As we said before, August will come quickly, and you donââ¬â¢t want to leave feeling like you didnââ¬â¢t spend enough time enjoying the company of family and friends. Graduating high school and moving off to college can be a bittersweet experience. Seniors, you have accomplished so much and should enjoy this time in your life. Congratulations to the college Class of 2018!
