Comparing Soul Food and A Raisin in the Sun Lorraine Hansberrys A Raisin in the Sun and George Tillmans box-office hit Soul Food explore the hardships and trials of black family life, and through the characters, setting, and theme of both the story and the film, the issue of class and the search for community is discussed. The theme indicated in these stories is the search for community. Mama Younger wanted her family to come closer. The more she tried, the farther apart they became. This is true also for Ahmad, the glue of the Joseph family. These families thrive on the future of these two youngest characters. The quarreling and bickering that occurs in these families are for the love of the two young boys and their welfare. Overview of Program Costs According to BYU’s website regarding the MSW program, it states that â€Å"our program takes 20 months of full-time study to complete. You will pay tuition five times.† With a tuition of $3,250 a semester for graduate students at BYU, I will need to pay a total of $16,250 of tuition. While the price for books and school supplies is not explicitly stated, I am estimating that it will be an additional $300 per semester, or $1,500 for the five semesters. This would increase the cost of attendance (COA) to $17,750. Scholarships Available Along with the MSW application (with an application date of January 2017), there is an additional section to apply for financial assistance (scholarships). There are two different scholarships that I may be eligible for: a gift fund scholarship, and a social work advocate scholarship. For both of the available scholarships, it says that â€Å"recipients are chosen from the following criteria: GPA, identified need, community service, and potential for contribution in the field of social work.† Fortunately, I have been able to provide much in community service with my application.
